  1. Hi!
I am so happy I found your blog; you have provided so many useful information about applying for fashion design at FIT.
As I am 27 and only now, unfortunately, I have the financial possibility to apply , I wanted to ask some advice from you.
I am not from USA, I just moved to New York.I have an university degree in Economics(with a 2.4 GPA). My highschool GPA was higher-3,6.
Because I didn't attend any school here, I have the chance to submit, as part of the application only my highschhol GPA or both(highschool and university gpas).
I am concerned if I submitt both diplomas/gpas they will reject me because I have a low gpa at the university. At the same time, because I finished highscool like 8 years ago, that will seem odd to the commitee, as I didn't do nothing so far(I only worked 5 years on Sales). What to you think I should do, submit both or not?
Another question would be if it is very important to have a strong backround in fashion: coursed, previous jobs and so on?I will attend a sewing class and a portfolio class in march and other than that I only know to sew because my mom knows it and it runs in the family.
I hope you have some time to answer my fears.Thank you

    1. the gpa doesn't matter for degree programs. focus on getting your portfolio as strong as possible.
if you take the classes before you submit your portfolio, mention it in your essay. Depending on how many art credits you have you can apply for a 1 year aas, but check with them first.
Sorry for the lateness of my reply
